A great HSM forum thread on a strip and rebuild of two Rockwell 11″ lathes. Both ambitious and inspiring.

Ethanol Killed the Fuel Line?

Posted by hammerscale on October 13, 2011

This is the second small engine repair (or attempt at repair) where I’ve found the fuel line(s) have disintegrated. My neighbor dropped this off a couple days ago, it was leaking gas badly and when I opened it up I discovered the small fuel lines had become brittle and had broken in several places.

Ethanol ? The chain saw is relatively new, what else leads to brittle plastic ?
